We are so glad that to visit the Shin-Hotaka Ropeway during May, year 2018! As we manage to oversee the magic of our mother nature.
The Shin-Hotaka Ropeway is actually made up of two ropeways. The first is a short 200 meter climb on a single-story ropeway from the bus stop to Nabedaira Kogen. Here you will find the Shin-Hotaka Visitors Center, a public bath, restaurants, a gift shop, a small art gallery, hiking trails and the departure point of the double decker ropeway.
The lower station of the Shin-Hotaka Ropeway is connected by direct hourly buses to Hirayu Onsen (35-45 minutes, 890 yen one way) and Takayama Station (90 minutes, 2160 yen one way) and get off at the final stop, Shin-Hotaka Ropeway. For more info of transport, can look here!
When we were there, the second ropeway is not in operation due to certain reasons. But we still manage to go up with the first ropeway.
When we travel from the Matsumoto to Hirayu Onsen, we notice the weather is kind of cool and can see some snow patches on top of mountains.
We manage to take the first ropeway and wandering around the station. We stayed outdoor initially and enjoyed the foot onsen. After a few moments later, the weather getting colder, and how lucky we are to spot the snowing! We are from tropical country and are super exciting to enjoy our first snowing experience here!
Here is some shots we taken, we very appreciated that still have the chance to view the snow at late spring season.
